Banff

A Story

10 December 2023

Getting to Banff ended up being much more difficult than anticipated.

A snow storm in Ottawa left us stuck at the airport for 24 hours.
But it was going to take more than that to tame our high spirits.

So we waited it out and eventually got on our plane, flying towards Alberta.
Banff in December is nothing short of magical.

Surrounded by nothing but mountains and snowed covered trees.

The Christmas decorations line the streets in a festival of light that transports you straight into a holiday movie.
Lake Louise had been on my bucket list for a while now.

We got there at dawn, before anyone. Paving the snowy trail with our footprints.
Arriving at the lake, it was completely covered in white powder.
The clouds were hanging so low you couldn’t tell where the mountains ended.

The silence only broken by the sound of our boots and the wind in the trees.
The trip would not have been complete without a little Christmas magic.

So rightfully on one of our last hike trough the woods, we met up with what was surely one of Santa’s reindeer.

A perfect end to a perfect trip.
